Candle Fragrance Oils

We ask what effect the candle fragrance oil used has on a candle scent.

Who among us has not found in a shop a scented candle which smells strongly and on bringing it home found the fragrance while burning to be disappointing and well rather flat.  Why should this be so, the candle may even have been described as triple scented … surely triple scented is better than singly scented?

For an explanation we need to return to basics and recall a candle scent is directly related to the amount of fragrance contained in the candle.  Sadly some manufactures will cut costs by diluting the essential oils and fragrance oils by adding much greater amounts of water than is advisable.  These manufacturers triple scent their candles with this over diluted fragrance oil; however the amount of fragrance contained in the candle is small.  These so called triple scented candles are not true heavy scented candles they are the equivalent to a normal candle.  It is the amount of fragrance which gives the candle its strength of smell not the process of triple scenting.

To ensure your candle smells wonderful and gives off a strong aroma which lasts throughout the entire burn it is necessary to use costly ingredients from the beginning of the process.  It is necessary to add sufficient fragrance to the fragrance oil to create a heavy scented candle with an aroma which lasts throughout the burn life of the candle.

A candle which gives off a pleasant aroma brings a relaxing and warm feeling to the home; the quality and strength of the aroma relates directly to the quality and strength of the candle fragrance oil used in its making, not by the process used in the candle making.
